Aborning

"The night was clear and cold. I was ready. This thing inside me was pushing. Finding its way. I was eager to get rid of the pain. I pushed too. Then I heard a mighty swoosh and it was gone. All I could do was lay there and catch my breath. When I lifted my head there was my person and there was something else. What is that?" wonders Grandmare.

"Egads it's up and chasing me!!!"

"Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....Gotta suck....This tarp on this woodpile doesn't taste good. Momma let me suck." laments the newborn Hotstuff.

"It's after me! It's after me!" Grandmare exclaims.

"Wait a minute. I got it. That's my new husband. Okay I'm ready. Hey, why are you licking my leg? Oh well, that feels good. Yes, that is okay. That is relieving that pressure. That is just what I need."

"His coat tastes good. He smells good. He must be okay. This feels right to me. I guess this is how it is supposed to be. He is mine. Nobody else can have him. Stay away. This is my baby. Must protect him."

"There he is lying down. I will stand over him. I am hungry as a horse. My hay is right there where my person put it. My water is way over there. I will wait until he gets up and follows me before I leave this spot." Grandmare lovingly observes the first of her herd.
