Aborning Two

"Ohhhhh what pain is this. I can't stand it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it!" Grandmare exclaims in a frenzy.

(She is crashing her belly on the ground. She is beating the pain out of her. Finally the foot appears, the other foot, the nose, the head, the shoulders, then the rest of him. But he lays still. The cord caught on his hock. The life is beaten out of him. But he must live after all that. A push to the rib cage. Another. And he breaths on his own. Very weak but alive. They both lay there resting. She gets up. He gets up with a lot of help. She stands still this time. She knows what he is.)

"My new little one. My own. Find your food. I will help you. I will be patient and encourage you and wait for you and watch over you. You will survive and grow strong and become father to a herd of beautiful horses. You are majestic. You will be saved three times because you are charmed and need to pass your spirit on to others. " Grandmare tells her newborn son, King of the Hill.
